The construction of the Tula armoury began on February 15, 1712 after Peter the First's decree. By the end of the 18th century the names of remarkable gunsmiths became well-known, among them Ivan Pushkin and Ilya Lyalin. In 1902 the plant went over to fully mechanized in-line production. Between 1961 and 1982 the Tula Arms Plant received orders for production of the world renouned Kalashnikov. |
